When God Came Through Again 31st July 2026
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” – Psalm 136:1
Today was one of those days that reminded me that God is still faithful, even in the ordinary moments of life.
My sister has spent the last two days with us here in Peterborough, and it has been wonderful. This was her first time visiting us since we moved here, and it was exactly what I needed—long conversations, laughter, watching the girls enjoy spending time with their aunt, and simply being together as family.
Those moments are priceless.
Just before she was about to have a shower, our boiler stopped working.
If you live in the UK, you’ll understand the feeling. A broken boiler usually means one thing—an expensive bill. We’d already been having little problems with it since moving into the house, and I knew calling an engineer would cost at least £100 just for the visit, before any repairs.
At that moment, I honestly didn’t have the money to spare.
So I stood quietly in the kitchen, in front of the boiler, and prayed.
It wasn’t a long prayer. It was simply:
“Lord, I don’t have the money for this. I don’t have the money to replace the boiler or pay for expensive repairs. Please let it work.”
After praying, I felt prompted to switch the boiler off and then back on again. After doing that, I sensed I should walk away instead of standing there worrying.
So I did.
About thirty minutes later, I came back downstairs.
The boiler was working.
After almost twenty hours without heating or hot water, everything was back to normal.
Some people may call it coincidence.
I call it God’s grace.
For me, it was another reminder that God cares about the little things too.
Finding Joy in My Garden
Later in the day, I spent some time in my garden—my happy place.

Today I harvested my very first homegrown cherry tomatoes, and they were every bit as sweet and juicy as I’d hoped. There is something incredibly satisfying about eating food you’ve grown yourself.
I also picked a couple of strawberries. Last week I managed to harvest six, but today there were only two waiting for me. They were small, perfectly ripe and absolutely delicious.
I’ll be sharing a few photos because they brought me so much joy.

As I stood there watering the flowers, picking tomatoes and strawberries, and admiring how much the garden has grown over the past few months, I realised something.
So much of life is like gardening.
Growth takes time.
There are seasons when it feels like nothing is happening beneath the surface, but God is still at work. Then one day, almost unexpectedly, you begin to see the fruit.
Today wasn’t just about harvesting tomatoes and strawberries.
It was a reminder that God is growing something in me too.
Another Prayer Answered
This week also brought another answer to prayer.
It was time to remortgage the house.
If you’re a single parent, you’ll probably understand how stressful affordability checks can be. The first application didn’t go through, and I left feeling discouraged.
After taking a little time, I applied again.
This time…
I passed.
Another prayer answered.
Another reminder that although I don’t always know how things will work out, God continues to make a way.
The Tender Moments of Motherhood
There were emotional moments today too.
My youngest was having a difficult time and needed a little extra reassurance, plenty of hugs, and the reminder that everything was going to be okay.
Sometimes motherhood isn’t about fixing everything.
Sometimes it’s simply about sitting beside your child until the storm passes.
Thankfully, by the end of the day she was smiling again.
For that, I’m grateful too.
Looking Ahead
Tomorrow we’re heading to the seaside with friends and our children.
I’m looking forward to the fresh air, the sound of the waves, watching the children laugh, and simply making more memories together.
As I finish writing tonight, my heart is full.
Not because everything is perfect.
But because today reminded me that even in financial worries, broken boilers, emotional moments and ordinary everyday life…
God is still faithful.
Today reminded me that God’s faithfulness is often found in the ordinary moments.
What small blessing are you thankful for today?
Thank you
With Love
Evelyn
